     A Tradition of Excellence
Thirty years of precision craftsmanship and putting customer first - this is the heritage
Stephan Schmidt began when he founded Micron Industries of Rochester in 1972.
His unwavering commitment to doing the job right, every time, became the foundation
of Micron's success. Now, as then, customers know that they come first.
And that Micron will deliver their projects on schedule, on budget,
with all the precision and quality they demand.

     Growing the Business
Through the 1970s and into the '80s, Stephan ran Micron
as a traditional tool and die shop. Early on, he developed
Micron's expertise in building molds for food packaging.
Then, recognizing the value of CNC, he was one of the
first shops in the area to bring this technology on board.
Micron's growth into a leading-edge facility had begun.

     Expanding By Design

By 1983, Kirk Schmidt was already learning the family
business, working there summers in high school and
college. In 1988, he graduated from Clarkson with a
degree in Electrical Engineering. He joined Micron
full-time, bringing with him expertise in 3-axis CAD-CAM
design. This took Micron another leap forward -- no
longer just building molds and other parts, but designing
them from the ground up. Kirk is always on the lookout
for newer and better software and hardware solutions.

     Taking Customer Commitment Even Further
Eric Schmidt joined Micron in 2001, with a masters
degree in Manufacturing from Stanford University.
More importantly, he brought six years experience
both as a trouble-shooting engineer and a manufacturing
manager at Delphi Automotive -- years spent
listening to customers, analyzing their needs,
and providing solutions. In other words, Eric has
     stood in the customer's shoes.
      As Micron's Customer Relations Representative,
he serves as the liaison between the customer and
the company - ensuring every problem is solved,
     every need is met.
